Dr Universe Leung
Dr Universe Leung is a general, upper gastrointestinal, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgeon at North Shore Hospital, Auckland. He attended medical school at University of Otago and completed his registrar training in general surgery in New Zealand. He undertook fellowship training in upper GI and HPB surgery in Auckland, New York, Sydney, Brisbane, and Paris. He has a particular interest in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) of the liver and pancreas. Dr Leung and his colleagues at North Shore Hospital performed the first laparoscopic as well as robotic whipples and major hepatectomy in New Zealand and continues to lead the development of MIS in HPB surgery in this country.
